CISD celebrates School Board Appreciation Month throughout January

January 8, 2021

Crandall ISD is joining 1,024 school districts throughout Texas in celebrating January as School Board Recognition Month, Superintendent Dr. Wendy Eldredge announced Monday.

“Our school board members are volunteers who shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices for our district, all without pay,” Eldredge said. “Their goal is always focused on the future success of the students in our district. Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to thank them for everything they do for our Pirates.”

Serving as a link between the community and classroom, school board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools. CISD’s board members are responsible for an annual budget of $51.9 million, more than 4,800 students and 600 employees, and eight campuses.

Aside from those responsibilities, the past two school years have presented challenges no school board in history had ever faced before with the Covid-19 pandemic. Trustees also approved construction on the new middle school, which will break ground for construction later this spring.

CISD board members are Rick Harrell (president), Mike Wood (vice president), Jennifer Hiser (secretary), Stacie Warren, Ryan Eskridge, Amy Barber and Dr. Sharon Long.

“It is more important than ever before that communities support public education so that today’s students are prepared to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow,” Eldredge said. “If you see one of our Trustees, please take a moment to thank them for caring about our children and giving so much to our community. Let them know we support them and that their dedicated service is recognized, and truly appreciated.”
