Friday's varsity homecoming game versus Sulphur Springs rescheduled to late November

Oct. 10, 2020

Next week’s Crandall versus Sulphur Springs varsity homecoming football game has been rescheduled due to a confirmed COVID-19 case among Sulphur Springs players. The varsity game will be played either Nov. 25 or 27. These dates were established in August by the District 8-5A Executive Committee as COVID make-up dates before the season began.

Varsity football is the only game being rescheduled. All other Pirate football games in all other grade levels will be played as normal.

The CHS homecoming opponent has been reset to Forney High School on Oct. 30. However, much planning by students, teachers and clubs has gone into next week’s high school homecoming themes. As such, next week’s theme days will continue as scheduled—with one exception. Mums will not be worn at school until the Oct. 30 gameday against Forney.

Coaches and student-athletes will maintain their normal athletic and football practice schedules throughout the week.

"This week's rescheduled game is an example of how quickly plans can change due to COVID," said Kyle Hardin, CISD athletic director and head football coach. "Even these new dates may change if issues arise later in the season. Our kids and families have been great adjusting all year and we will keep everyone informed of any adjustments as soon as possible."
